Our Father

June 16, 2014 By Juanita Ryan Leave a Comment

We are your children.

May we know you as
our true and loving Father,
Merciful One,
Compassionate One.

Thank you that you are here with us and in us, actively working to heal and free and bless us.

May we receive you. May we say “Yes” to you and to your loving will for us. May we participate with you in your healing, restoring work,
in our lives, in our families, in our communities, in our world.

Thank you that every day you feed us, you nurture us. You give us all we need, one day at a time.

We confess that we fall short. We harden our hearts in pride and despair, in greed and
disregard of others, and yet, you forgive us and release us, and call us, always, to learn your way of love.

May we, in response to your kindness, extend mercy and forgiveness to all others. We ask you to protect us from the ever present temptation to see ourselves in competition with others for your love, when you love us all, always.

Free us, as well, from the fear that we can be separated from your love.

May we know you always present to us all,
Most Powerful,
Most Beautiful God.

——

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
